'Wet Wet Wet' star Marti Pellow reportedly saved the life of his girlfriend's sister after she nearly suffocated from a deadly nut allergy.

The singer injected Claire Catterson with a shot of adrenaline as her throat closed up and she gasped for breath.

The actress, whose model sister Eileen is 41-year-old Pellow's long-term partner, said she owed her life to the singer's thinking.

The 25-year-old, who developed her nut allergy only five years ago, said she collapsed while sharing a Chinese meal with the couple at her sister's London flat after seeing a West End play.

She told English newspaper the Daily Record: "We got a takeaway on the way back to Eileen's place in Chelsea. But I went into anaphylactic shock. My throat was burning and closed up."

"Marti injected me and Eileen got me into the recovery position," she said. "If he and Eileen hadn't been there, God knows what would have happened."

Wet Wet Wet formed in the 1980s and had hits with ‘Wishing I Was Lucky’, ‘Sweet Little Mystery’, and ‘Love Is All Around’.

They split in 1999 and Pellow went on to beat heroin addiction to front the band's reunion shows in 2004.

He also played the part of Billy Flynn, the lawyer in the musical Chicago, in London's West End.
