Kate Moss' seductive new perfume 'Velvet Hour' has just hit the stores and to celebrate the launch, she talks about her new scent, as well as her ideal night out.

What did you try and convey with this second fragrance?

Kate Moss: This scent conjures up that special moment when night time comes and darkness envelops you like velvet. I love that time, it’s really sexy and full of longing and promise. I am always better at night, I come alive at night.

What were your main inspirations for this fragrance?

KM: I really tried to recreate the special atmosphere of night in this fragrance. I have this special ritual when I am getting ready to go out, where I like to burn incense in my room. For the deep night blue, I was inspired by one of my favourite dresses which is a vintage dress I found in a thrift shop in London on my 30th birthday. I am very attached to this dress which brings back memories of a great birthday party.

Where is the best place to apply fragrance?

KM:The answer is actually in the advertisement. I love to start with the pulse and finish with the back of my neck.

What do you think of the packaging for this fragrance?

KM: I really love it. It has a really mysterious and precious feel to it, thanks to the deep blue colouring. The jewelled cap gives the fragrance a special touch and reminds me of sapphire which is one of my favourite stones.

What is your favourite note in the fragrance?

KM: It has to be the incense as it reminds me of home.

Where did the name Velvet Hour come from?

KM: I really wanted a name that best represented that specific time when night is falling and the darkness envelops you like velvet. A feeling of serenity washes over me and new senses awaken.

What is the best time for a woman to wear Velvet Hour?

KM: Definitely at night.

What words best describe your fragrance?

Mysterious, enigmatic, sexy and unexpected.

What was it like working with Mert & Marcus on the print ad?

KM: I really love working with Mert & Marcus, over the years we’ve
become great friends and created some amazing images, it’s so easy and fun working with them.

How involved were you in the creation of this fragrance?

KM: I was completely involved in the whole process form conception to completion. I was really excited bout the project, I have been working with Coty for such a long time now between my fragrance and Rimmel, it’s like working with friends.

Do you consider your fragrance as a fashion accessory?

KM: Of course! For me it’s the final touch, it's important to match your fragrance with your mood.

What’s the first thing you want people to notice about you when you enter a room, your outfit or your fragrance?

KM: I think both of them are equally as important but I really believe that a person’s fragrance is the thing they are remembered by. With the right fragrance you can leave a lasting impression on someone.

Describe you perfect “Velvet Hour” night out?

KM: A good gig with friends.

Do you believe that your fragrance is a weapon of seduction?

KM: Absolutely, it stays on long after the clothes come off. (laughs)
