Aldi Ireland is planning to open two new stores in Co Galway creating up to 60 new permanent jobs in the county.
Aldi said it is submitting a planning application to Galway City Council for a new store on Old Monivea Road, Ballybrit.
The construction of its new Tuam store is also due to start in 2021.
The supermarket group also said it is actively seeking a suitable site in Athenry for a new store.
Aldi said the development of its new Ballybrit store will see a substantial investment into the local area, with up to 50 jobs being created during the construction period and 30 permanent positions to become available upon opening.
Aldi received final planning permission for its new Tuam store in July, after buying part of Glynn's Homevalue Hardware site on the Ballygaddy Road in the centre of Tuam.
30 new permanent jobs will be created in 2022 when it opens.
Aldi currently operates nine stores in Co Galway.
In 2021, it is also planning to revamp its West City Centre Retail Park and Headford Road stores.
Aldi employs over 4,500 people and operates a network of 145 stores across the country, with stores in each county in the Republic of Ireland.
