The President of Cork Chamber of Commerce has called for absolute clarity from the Government on delivery timelines for projects under the Ireland 2040 capital development plan.
Speaking as the chamber celebrated its 200th anniversary at its annual dinner in Cork tonight, Bill O’Connell said Ireland 2040 offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to change the city over the next two decades.
However, he said the aims of the plan needed to be more than aspirations.
Guest of honour, President Michael D Higgins, said all the country’s regions and cities need realisable, long-term plans. He said these would be more important as Brexit approaches.
Zenith Technologies was named Cork Company of the Year at the annual dinner.
Zenith’s Executive Chairman and Founder Brendan O’Regan described his company as an overnight success which was 20 years in the making.
